A Silver Nanoparticles-Based Selective and Sensitive Colorimetric Assay for Ciprofloxacin in Biological, Environmental, and Commercial Samples

The wide-spread usage of ciprofloxacin (CIP) resulted in its presence different parts the ecosystem. Thus, a simple, reliable, on-spot detection method for CIP is required environmental context. Herein, colorimetric assay developed based on branched polyethyleneimine (PEI) conjugated silver nanoparticles (PEI-AgNPs). AgNPs are prepared using PEI as stabilizing agent following simple one-pot two-phase procedure. PEI-AgNPs subsequently used an efficient and selective CIP. characteristic yellow colour changed to colourless when was added which further confirmed by quenching intensity SPR (surface plasmon resonance) band (hypochromic shift). proposed quantitation linear dynamic range (LDR) 0.1–200 µM with limit (LOD) 0.038 µM, quantification (LOQ) 0.12 µM. selective, efficient, sensitive numerous interfering species real biological, environmental, commercial pharmaceutical samples. Excellent performance compared UV-Vis spectroscopy UPLC samples demonstrated.
